Happy 2016 everyone!
This year has been off to an unusual, but AMAZING start! With the snow day, the delay Tuesday, and the crazy bus snow routes, we had a lot of things that could have gone wrong here in SRC Primary-but this week has been incredible!
This week we also started a new schedule. Every few months, I change everyone's schedules a little bit. I want the kids to work with different peers and different adults--to help them generalize skills. I want them to practice skills at different times in the day, to see what works best for everyone. I want to provide challenges for each and every child in a safe and structured environment! Every schedule change, we expect some resistance--change is hard! This week the kids were a little confused at times, but I am so proud of how well everyone handled the change!
And speaking of snow...
Last August when Miss Amanda and I got together to plan out our thematic units, we were a little nervous about making snow a theme...What if it didn't snow? We are so glad everyone got to safely enjoy a snow day, and it has also given us a jump start into learning with January's thematic unit! This week we have read and written about snow, added snowflakes and subtracted melting snowmen! We're so excited that we hit the ground running this year. Hope your year is off to a great start as well!
