Today, we got an extra special visit from some extra special heroes!
We were visited by Spiderman, the Hulk and Wonder Woman. But the most super hero that visited us was a Beaverton Police Department Police Officer! We want to encourage our kids to build relationships with community helpers that they might see out and about with their families. We are also very cognizant that in the last few years there have been a startling amount of emergency situations in schools where kids might interact with officers in a different way. We want our kids to know the police officers they might see at school during times of emergency and of calm, and know that they are here to help.
This year, the Beaverton School District has adopted the Standard Response Protocol. This protocol was created by the iloveyouguys foundation and it streamlines the language, policies and procedures that we will follow if ever we need to for emergency situations. More information on the district's specific policies can be found here:

To practice, we are going to spend more time getting to know our police officers, and practice following directions when they are given by a police officer. Today, we got to play a fun round of Simon Says! We are doing great work every day to help our kids be safe, responsible and respectful!
